YAMAHA EDR and OBD TRACE
The first generation of EDR (Event data recorder) directly connect
the terminal pin of the EFI control unit to measure voltage, and
transfer the analog voltage signals into digital signals which will be
stored in the SD card. From the PC through the RS232 (adopting
UART mode) cable connection to the SD card, the data will be
transmitted to YAMAHA service department and manufacturing
factory for clearly reading real-time information of the motorcycle
failure. All signals are digital signals. Analysts see the actual
values rather than the voltage level. The EDR guide the beginner
technicians to learn quickly fixing the intermittent misfire fault of
YAMAHA motorcycle at once.
The second generation of EDR-OBD TRACE is by the means of diagnosis communication to store digital communication
data in the SD card. The adoption of USB HUB mode accelerates data transmission speed, while resolving the difficult to
analyze large data files.
Add break point setting to quick search and judge conditions of the failure point in improving the speed of problem
determination. I.C.M diagnostic tools software system can support the OBD TRACE functions and program architecture.
In the motorcycle and automotive diagnostic equipment market, we first commercialized data log tool out of the
R & D lab in the repair market. EDR is designated by YAMAHA to be an essential tool for Taiwan YAMAHA dealer.
There are about 1000 units of EDR in YAMAHA repair shop.
The second generation of EDR- Digital OBD TRACE has passed the SYM lab test and entered trial production phase.
